Journal 94 - Musical Monte Cristo!

Journal 94

Sunday - 11-28-10

Host mum asked how the Tretyakov Gallery was -- I told her that we didn't go. She said, "It's been a thousand years since I've been there!" When I protested that she didn't look that old at all, she said, "Okay, 100 years! But I'm still old enough that you could be my granddaughter!!!" (Her son is 40. If he'd started young, it's true, it's possible.)

Count of Monte Cristo - The Musical!!!

Elena was kind enough to get invitations from her friend Andrei, who works at the Operetti Theatre. (He's the one who got us tickets to the show we went to before.)

Bit of a problem though --

I was supposed to go with Pete -- but I didn't hear from him, when I asked him when he wanted to meet; and again, when I asked, "I take it you're not coming?" as I was on my way to the theatre.

"How is this a problem?" You may be wondering. After all, couldn't I just walk in, pick up the tickets, and it's no problem if Pete isn't there?

Ha ha ha, welcome to the land of, "everything must be *just* *so.*"

You see, when you say, "There should be two invitations," but there is only one person, they will look at you funny.

Also, I misunderstood my friend Elena when she called me last night. I thought she said she put the invitations under the name, "Catharine" -- not quite my name, but close enough. The Administrators told me there were no invitations under that name.

I called Elena, and she said the tickets were under, "Pete Cato!"

So, the invitations are supposed be be under a foreign name, for a person who's not even there!

Somehow, it all got worked out. I assume that Elena called her friend, who called someone (he wasn't in the theatre for the matinee show), and they wrote me the invitation/ticket. Though, I still received funny looks from them when I said there were supposed to be two seats… But obviously there was no second person with me. [More funny looks were received as I passed through the security/ticket checker part.]

*****

I received AMAZING seats -- row 5, seats 5-6. They were the end seats (closest to center) of the Right Wing of the theatre! So I got to sit on the edge, and had an absolutely gorgeous view of the stage.

And what a spectacle!!!!! The stage design was incredibly clever, and beautifully wrought! Costumes were lovely and creative; the "corps du ballet" were all beautiful, and there was even a dedicated "parcour" ("free running") group!! [Their "bow" at the end of the show? At least 2-4 of them somersaulted OFF of the stage INTO the orchestra pit!!!! There was no orchestra in it, but that's an awful long way down!!!]

A few story differences - nothing I went crazy about.

Straight home -- mostly to relax. Decided not to try to go to practice today. … Sort of cast about for something to do, and realized I'd probably better get to working on my Journal, which hadn't been updated in over a week…. *sigh*

Dinnertime soon. Yay! =^__^=

***********

And now it's almost 2 AM, I've been working on these Journals almost all night, and chatting with people in between…. I'm sleepy, and have to be up early for school, and haven't done the homework I should have… = @_@ = Argh.

AND these journals still aren't as good as I'd like them to be… Well, at least something will be up…

Looking forward to lessons [later tonight!]

Love,

Moscow Kitty
