Getting Hair Done
USMC 235th Birthday Ball!
Highlights:
Young Igor's Joke
"What do you want? [<--Line spoken to a woman] Something to drink, or a soul?"
"Oh, I don't know, they're both so tasty!"
Saw Young Igor (one of the drivers); Carlos (the chef) -- danced with them both. Ha ha ha!
Dinner was delicious!
Dancing with My Guys
At one point, early in the night, I grabbed Skee while some Frank Sinatra was playing, for a slower dance. As we were revolving around, Skee looked at me and said, "I'm sorry I can't dance like you do… But I can do *this!!!*" And then he picked me up and swung me around in a circle! Ha ha ha!
I got a dance with almost all of my nearest and dearest there! I was so happy!
Seeing a bunch of Military Folk, in all their finest, getting down = priceless.
Seeing them all doing "The Macarena?" Even better!!!
Young Igor did cartwheels at one point!
I was dancing in these massive heels for the first part of the night -- I was reminded of something a store lady said to me the other day as I was shopping.
I said, "No way. These are not comfortable at all!"
She responded, deadpan, "They're high heels. They're not *supposed* to be *comfortable!*"
The funniest part of the night is tied between the three following events:
1. Young Igor wanted to get a photo with me. I obliged, and not long after we finished taking the photo, Mulzoff came out, looking for me. Long story short, Young Igor was teasing Mulzoff, that he'd stolen me away for the photo with him. But what he said was, "I rented her from you!" (The word he was looking for was, "Borrowed.")
This led to a fit of shaking, silent laughter, as Young Igor totally failed to realize he'd made it sound like I was a Working Lady of some kind, by saying he'd "rented me" from Mulzoff.
2. I wound up Fireman Carrying Skee, while wearing my formal gown!!! He'd already changed out of his uniform -- and he was teasing me about needing someone to lean on. I told him, "Well, so long as you're under 200 lbs, I can carry you!"
He sized me up with his eyes, and said, "No way."
I flashed a grin. "I can, too!"
"Then let's do it!"
We stood, I threw him over my shoulders, and started walking.
"Whoa, whoa!!" he exclaimed!
I put him down, he recognized I was serious when I said I could carry him, and I felt twice as accomplished for having done it in a formal dress!!
3. At the very, very end of the night, I went in search of some of my friends, and heard the faint tunes of some people singing from the dance floor. As I ran in, I saw that one of our friends was dancing with a girl, and 4 or 5 of the guys were pulling a, "Top Gun," and singing, "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'," complete with the "bass line." Naturally, I jumped right in!!!!!! It was incredible!! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

There was only one downside to the night:
We were each given a mug as a present for the night. Mulzoff was going to give me his, so that I could have a set of two -- and they were fine, his and mine, sitting next to each other all night… … Until maybe 10 minutes before we left, and someone stole them! Not only stole them, but took the fruit out of them (which I had put in there to show that they were "taken"), and stole them!!!
I was so mad!!!
We found one for me to take, so at least I have one, and I'll just have to ask if there are any extras, to make a set with…
**********
That aside, I had an absolutely spectacular night, and I was so incredibly thankful that Mulzoff invited me!!
Can't beat having your first Marine Corps Birthday Ball take place in Moscow, Russia!!!!
Love,
Moscow Kitty
