Journal 76

4-1-10 (11:51 PM)

I must admit, I'm so annoyed when I go to write a journal for one day, but it's so late that the day has already changed, that I've taken to moving my "time stamp" back by an hour, just so I don't have to write a different day at the top of the page, and be so confusing! I may soon eliminate it all together. But that would be sad, as I've always traditionally done a "time stamp." Hmm…. Accuracy or Ease-of-Reading????

In any case, I had another day of classes today -- and I was just EXHAUSTED for most of it. I am almost entirely sure, that in the last 4 nights, I've gotten around 10-12 hours of sleep.. (2, 2, 3-4 ish, and 3-4 ish). = O-o =

Needless to say, with that, plus the minor injuries, I've gotten run down pretty quickly, and nothing is healing up quite so fast. I've now not gone to practice for 2 nights! Eek! But I *WILL* practice tomorrow. Have to! I have another lesson -- so that's something to look forward to, at least.

Classes went pretty well today -- we had our "tête à tête" meetings with Galina Mikhailovna (Phonetics) and Lilia Leonidovna (Grammar) today. Galina told me that she was very pleased with my progress so far; highlighted the few sounds she really wants me to be focusing on; and told me she was looking forward to my being placed in the Individual Program, starting in the Summer, to really get my progress going. Lilia told me she had absolutely no criticisms to give me -- she was pleased with everything I was doing (from how I study, to how I do my homework, to the questions I ask in class, etc…). She did express to me the feeling that sometimes I might want to go faster than the pace we are going in my group, and we discussed that maybe I could meet with her sometime for some extra Grammar work -- which I would love! She actually didn't know that I was going to be staying for a whole other year after this semester, and told me to ask Galina Mikhailovna to be placed with her, if possible, when I get into the Individual program. I was so happy!!! She is just an *incredible* professor and woman, and I would *love* to get to really work with her as a mentor. Under her (more intense) tutelage, I have *no* doubts that my capabilities in Russian would skyrocket.

Of course, Lilia Leonidovna just flat-out gives me the warm and fuzzes anyway, because she calls me things like, "Мое солнце" (Moya Son'tsa -- My Sun) and "прелесть" (Prey-lest -- A word Pushkin was fond of, that means something like, "Beautiful, Charming, Sweet, Put-Together" all in one go! I am really fond of that one!) -- I told you she was fond of me, right? =^__^= ''

I was slightly disappointed, however, because I missed Russian-American club today, due to the fact that I went to return the Yota internet modem that I had bought -- and it took FOREVER!!! At the time, I had still been debating whether or not to go to dance practice, and so I just went straight home -- where I'd have had 20 minutes or so to get ready and leave. I was just too tired/too sore. I laid down for an hour instead -- and then Pete called, telling me I should come out to the John Donne tonight! With the promise of Oreos and Pop-Tarts (great things while you're on a diet, let me tell you) -- but really, more for the time to visit, I headed out after dinner.

**********

I have to say, you can't beat Oreos and Milk. Anywhere, anytime. *laughs* I was also re-reading my book o' Oscar Wilde on the Metro to and from there, so, really, it was an unbeatable night! *loves her some Oscar Wilde!*

So, here I am -- and it's time for BED! Luckily, our excursion doesn't start until 3 PM tomorrow!!! Whoo hoo!!! … Even better, it's the trip to the Red October Chocolate Factory!!! I've been waiting for this one ALL semester, muwah ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!

It's probably a cruel juxtaposition to have a place of chocolate and a dance lesson/dance practice in the same day -- but that's okay. I'll get to work off the chocolate!! *laughs*

Much love,
