Journal 104

4-29-10; 11:45 PM

I finally finished, "The Three Musketeers!!" I'm so excited! (Although, I'm a bit saddened that it is over now!) This means that for the rest of Sochi, I will be moving on to the complete plays of Oscar Wilde!! Of course, now, I almost have to hope that I won't finish it, or get very far into it, because I still have that little, 30-hour-train-ride-back-to-Moscow to worry about… = @_@ =

**********

So, they weren't kidding -- the first half of the hike up the mountain had quite the killer incline to it! It was nigh vertical in some parts, in fact! There was also a part where we basically blazed our way through part of the woods.

We saw some AMAZING sights, got to "Ah-Ooh" ("АУ!!") to each other when the distance got too great between some of us, and break out some of our Russian songs.

All in all, a pretty good -- but EXHAUSTING day. Still, I'm not going to complain about seeing beautiful waterfalls, and getting to read at the base of one, on a rock in the middle of the running water… =^___^=

Lunch (held after the hike) was ok -- read: it was almost the exact same meal that we had for dinner last night: a fresh veggie plate and some bread and cheese; some other Georgian dish that was too spicy for me to eat; a bean dish (which I also couldn't eat), and Hachipuri -- which is a bread, cheese, and butter dish -- that is apparently some kind of wonderful… … If you like Cheese, that is… Thus, the only thing I could eat was the fresh cucumber, and two slices of bread.

So, for two days, at the group meals, I've not been able to eat much. (Last night was better than today, though.) Thank goodness I lifted so much of that strawberry-jam-filled bread yesterday at the tea plantation! That formed the brunt of my lunch today. Ha ha ha!

Don't worry though -- it's not as if I'm starving. Remember that we have that enormous breakfast buffet; so my breakfasts have been rather sumptuous these last two days… =^_~=

**********

To be boring, but honest -- most of us crashed when we got back to the hotel -- myself included. We only got a little nap, however, because we had a little bit of a dance class this afternoon.

It was pretty fun. Irina had me help teach some cha cha, and then she had myself, and one of the Vladimir guys teach hustle. The only problem with that was that he and I didn't exactly see eye-to-eye on some things… = O_o = So I felt like it would have been easier if I'd just done it myself, instead of having the double confusion. But, oh well. Everyone who went had fun, and that's what's important.

**********

Jess and I hit up the Boardwalk for a little bit after our dance lesson, for some ice cream and a bit of a stroll!! I'm happy to report that I've finally had my first "Eskimo" ice cream bar!!! =^___^=

That's important because that particular ice cream is mentioned in a song that is unofficially Russia's "birthday" song, of sorts. (Crocodile Gena's Song -- Песня Крокодила Гены) -- so now I finally know what Gena is singing about!! *laughs*

It's also quite hilarious, because the wrapper is emblazoned with a huge, "СССР" (USSR) on it! Oh, life. Speaking of "Eskimos" and the USSR, our friend Tatyana told me that the Soviet-Time "Eskimos" were WAAAAY better than today's "Eskimos."

Other than that, I just started to mess around with pictures some; then I finished, "The Three Musketeers;" and now I've finished today's journal -- that's been my evening.

That said and done, I'm exceedingly exhausted, and I would like to be abed now.

Much love,

PS - I just realized that the last journal I sent to my Nana was number 63…. Oh boy…. I have a lot to send her…. Sorry Nana!
