My plan had been to come home from the City Planning office, grab a shower and a nap, and then head out to the John Donne (the Expat pub). Pete hadn't said when to stop by, but I figured later afternoon, he should have been there.
Life, however, tends to like to mess up plans you think you've got laid out perfectly.
I got a nice, long shower. And just when I was nice and relaxed, and ready to tackle the rest of the day, I open the shower curtain… …. And see that there is water ALL OVER the floor!!! = @_@ = My God, first the shower tries to *eat* me, and then it just decides to all but flood, and try to take me out with a heart attack instead!!!
Introduce my scrambling to dry things up, and wring out the mat on the floor. Luckily no one was home at the time, so I didn't have to worry about causing any sort of commotion for anyone but myself; and there was certainly nothing that got damaged. (I.e. no water out into the hall, etc.)
Of course, I didn't exactly want anyone to come home and ask, "Why is the bathroom mat completely soaked…?" Which leads to my standing there for probably a good hour and then some, trying to hand dry the mat with a hair dryer. (If I have ever missed having a dryer to go with the washing machine, it was *right then.*)
Considering that the afternoon had already taken a turn for the hectic, I probably shouldn't have expected the mat-drying to go any smoother… The damn hair dryer tried to *eat* *my* *hair*!!! Twice!!!! (Which is to say, that I learned the lesson of, "Don't let your hair get too close to the intake fan…" the hard way, twice….) What an afternoon… = x_x = I didn't ever get that nap…..
Bathroom mishaps aside, I left for the pub, intending to chill with Pete and get some homework and photo work taken care of! When I arrived, however, Pete was nowhere in sight! I went ahead and got some food (to be a good patron), and hopped online.
Coincidentally, I caught Pete on Facebook, who said he'd be in -- but 2 hours from that point in time!! He told me to wait; and I said I'd see what I could do -- given that I only had 68% of my battery at the time, I think.
Neways, so I started working, and getting my new pictures up onto Facebook, and getting to chat with friends that I hadn't spoken with for a few weeks. (That, due to the fact that the internet I have while at home hates the Facebook chat program.) It was a nice start to the evening.
It also wasn't as crowded when I first arrived on the scene, so there wasn't as much cigarette smoke hanging around. Unfortunately, that *did* change. By the time I got home, everything (including my beautiful hair!!) smelled like smoke… =>_<=
Ah, but skipping to the end of the night is getting ahead of myself!!
