Good morning -- or good evening -- Boys and Girls! Have I got a story for *you!* Actually, I have a few. I know it's out of order -- as I'm not yet to the present with my normal blogs, but, this happened tonight, and I wanted to share it.
This evening, I went out in search of a salsa party/meet up that was going to be at a restaurant called "Caiman" [Кайман]. I had found it online, in a Salsa forum, and I said, "OK, why not go check it out, and have a good time on a Friday night?"
Good time on a Friday night =
Walk around in Moscow, alone...
For an *hour and a half*...
In 3* F weather...
In half my normal layering...
And no hat!!!!
(I didn't want to have to be on the look out for too many things while I was dancing).
I wound up hitting some sketchy parts here and there -- and even after I asked for directions (and got some in English) I couldn't find the place.
BUT! The night wasn't a total wash!
*I'm still alive.
*I found a big movie theatre.
*I found a TGI Friday's (Not that I intend to eat there, I'm just amused..)
*I found a big department store.
And, oh yeah, I got asked out on the Metro. =^__^= '' Eek.
That was actually the start of my night. I was on my way to the Metro stop Cmolyenskaya, and I wound up sitting next to this guy. I got the feeling he was looking at me, and eventually, he caught my attention and asked if he could ask me a question.
He proceeded to ask for my phone number, and let this be a lesson for anyone who EVER wants to travel, and turn someone down if they get hit on:
IF a guy asks you out, and tries to convince you to give your phone number to him, saying: "I don't understand everything you're saying, I'm only a student," (in his own language) DOES NOT WORK when the *only* important part of what he's asking you -- "Nomer telefona?" -- is a *COGNATE!!!!*
Ha ha, he *so* busted me on that. I wish I'd understood a little bit more of what he was saying though, because his question/persuasions seemed very well put together. I just didn't get it. *laughs*
Thankfully, the next stop was mine, and arrived about 15 seconds after I'd said no for the 2nd or 3rd time, with many apologies -- and I hopped off the train, to go wander around for the next hour and a half.
I don't remember the last time I've EVER been so cold, and I was very happy to be home.
Bedtime soon! Just wanted to share the "amusing anecdotes."
Love,
